Ella's campaign for THINK PACIFIC FOUNDATION

This coming summer, 2019, I have a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a positive difference to lives of a number of Fijian school children. In conjunction with the Think Pacific Foundation, myself and like-minded individuals will travel to Fiji to help to increase basic standards in education to Fijian school children.
Although Fiji is a safe and wonderful country and the local people will welcome you with open arms and beaming smiles, children in Fiji grow up in a world of basic education, limited knowledge and a severe lack of opportunity. Schools are in a poor condition and devoid of basic facilities and most distressingly only 50% of children have access to safe drinking water and proper sanitation.
Think Pacific Foundation aim to deliver support to the people of Fiji by targeting education as a vehicle for change, during our stay we will we replenish school resources, provide teacher training, help to rebuild essential facilities and through our time and effort as a volunteer, increase standards in education, extracurricular activities and sports.
This is definitely not an excuse for a lovely holiday! Along with the important work carried out by us as volunteers, we will also be totally immersed in Fijian life and culture during our month long stay. We will be accommodated with Fijian families during our time on the island and eat sleep and drink as they do. This truly is a unique opportunity for us as volunteers to experience a way of life much removed from our own without the luxuries we all inevitably take for granted.
The money that you donate will not only pay for my travel costs to take part in the project but will also go towards helping improve educational conditions for the children we personally engage with. The money will be used to provide materials and supplies including pens, paper, books, art and craft materials and sports equipment. It will also be used to create a sustainable future for the Foundation who provide year-round, long term support to the schools. With the emphasis being placed upon empowering communities by training local people with the skills required for sustainable change.
