My beautiful baby girl Ella was diagnosed with FIP and she is fighting very hard to live. She’s only 1yr and so much love to give. Her soul is the most loving to anyone or anything that comes to her.
FIP has a mortality rate of %100, until this past year. Our fur babies don’t need to die a painful death anymore. A drug called GS-441524 made by Gilead was used in a field trial of 31 cats. After 25 days, five cats had died, eight had been cured and subsequently relapsed, and 18 had been cured without any subsequent relapses. The eight who relapsed were treated again, some with higher doses. Of these eight, one died and seven were cured, meaning that 25 of the 31 cats were ultimately cured of FIP.
However, the drug is STILL not approved by the FDA so not available to buy from pharmaceuticals in the US.
Seems not fair, it’s such a simple thing to make available after all the proof out there.
Several manufacturers in China have been producing GS-441524 and its basically identical to the US formula. People are actually saving their fur babies, but at a cost of course if you don't live there.
With the help of FB FIP Warriors we were able to find a way to get Ella help.
We received one vial and yesterday I started Ella on her first dose, she was very brave and yet she still managed a purr. She has started eating again just a bit, and we’re patiently waiting for her jaundice to go down. Her tummy is not as extended, although the vet did remove the yellow fluid built up after she had ultrasound down. She is on a 2mL dose daily injection. Each vial comes with 2.5 days worth. Between $80 and $160 a vial. Depends on what is available at the time of need in the area.
Please find it in your hearts to help her if you can. The results from the GS are real. We know that Ella will die without this treatment and that she needs this help ASAP.
With vet bills and helping my family with losing their jobs due to the pandemic I will not be able to support all the medications for the 12 week process.
I understand that everyone is going through a hard time, including myself. However , If you have a few dollars to spare to help afford to keep this beloved creature in our lives, I cannot express how much it would mean to me and my family. She has so much love and joy to give.
