I hope this letter finds you and your family well.
As many of you know, this past summer I went on a mission trip to the Philippines. I want to thank you for your financial and prayer support to make this trip happen. It was amazing to see how God moved. I was privileged to be able to minister and serve the children at Vacation Bible School (VBS), help improve their facilities by building some furniture for the children’s classrooms, and minister to the youths. I also had the opportunity to visit a dump area where children and adults live in extreme poverty. It was an eye-opening experience because I saw how the children lived and played with joy in spite of their living condition. I came with my team intending to bless them, but we left feeling blessed by these people.
This summer, instead of going on another mission trip with my school, I decided to go on a different kind of mission trip. I want to further equip myself in the calling that God has put into my life. I plan to take part in a summer dance intensive program with ‘Ballet Magnificat!’ in Jackson, Mississippi. I believe dance is a tool that can minister and reach out to people who are otherwise closed to listening the Gospel message. Dance can bring healing and salvation that reach beyond language barriers.
As a sophomore dance major at Oral Roberts University, I have grown not only as a dancer but also as a daughter in Christ this past year and a half. With the help of my professors, I have improved so much in my technique and choreography. I have been able to attend master classes with professional dancers, and learn how to utilize my gift to bring glory to God. Dance has always been a passion of mine that God has instilled in me at a young age. As I develop my training as a dancer in college, I also know that it is my responsibility to prepare myself for the mission that God has called me into. My passion is not just to perform, but to share the Gospel through dance. I am thankful for all the training that I have learned so far as a student at ORU.
But this Summer I have an amazing opportunity to train with one of the world’s premiere traveling dance companies. ‘Ballet Magnificat!’ is a Christian ballet company that I have known for several years, and was one of the first companies that inspired me to pursue my calling in dance. They enjoy a reputation as one of the best traveling dance company in the country. They are a professional Christian dance company dedicated to presenting the good news of Jesus Christ to the whole world. They have performed nationally and internationally, ministering with dances presenting the Gospel through the story of Rahab, Ruth, Moses, and so much more. The Gospel message is the center of all their performances. Needless to say, budding dancers like myself apply in droves just to have two weeks of personal training. I was so excited when I learned that I have been accepted into their summer program. In order for me to secure my spot, I will need to raise $2,687 by March 24. This will cover the air fare, room and board, 2 weeks of intensive training with master teachers and discipleship.
I would like to ask you to partner with me financially on this journey of a different kind of mission trip. This training will not only sharpen my skills in dance, but will help me in growing deeper into God’s Word and using dance to communicate the Gospel message. Your financial support for this trip, whatever the amount is, will be greatly appreciated. I humbly ask you to partner with me on this journey as I deepen the gifts that God has given me.
