Beth Eckardt's mobility fund

Elizabeth's story started March 14th when she was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a rare disorder that causes the body's immune system to attack it's own nerves.  After collapsing at home she was rushed to the hospital where she spent the next few months battling this terrible and rare illness. There is no known cause or cure for Guillain-Barre and its affects can range from total or partial paralysis to death. Elizabeth was fortunate enough to survive this illness and retain some level of motor skills, but she has lost the use of her feet and has severely limited use of her legs and hands. She is currently confined to a wheelchair and despite extensive physical therapy it is highly unlikely she will regain her mobility.

Elizabeth is a single mother who supports her 2 children. At the moment she is unable to drive and her daughter and son must take her to and from work and physical therapy daily. Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase a reliable vehicle for Elizabeth and equip it with hand controls for the disabled. She will also need training in the use of such a vehicle. Additional money received will be put towards paying off her extensive medical bills.
