Eli's Fight: Epidermolysis Bullosa

Eli Monnier was born with Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa on August 8, 2015. He produces ZERO collagen VII, the glue that holds our layers of skin together. He is covered in bandages to hide open, sometimes infected, painful wounds no child should ever have to endure. Yet he is determined, usually happy, and full of life.
He will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant in February in Minnesota. At a minimum, Eli and his mommy will be living in MN for 4-5 months. This could be extended if there are any complications. ELI'S DADDY IS HIS BONE MARROW DONOR. But his daddy will need to continue working to maintain employment since his mommy will have to quit her job for up to a year or more possibly. Eli's daddy wants to be able to fly in for a visit every other weekend and especially when there is an emergency if Eli happens to take a bad turn.
Currently a bone marrow transplant is not a cure but is the only systemic treatment that heals the whole body, not just the outside skin. EB affects the eye tissues, gastrointestinal tissues, heart, kidneys, and liver. It causes joints to contract, hand and foot deformities from webbing of fingers and toes, and can become quit debilitating as the condition worsens over time.
We want to help Eli gain a better quality of life with less pain, less blistering, tougher skin, and faster healing! A BMT is the only option to do that.

Eli has become a huge part of my life. Eli's nurses are there for the good times and bad. We see him crying in pain, not sleeping at night, and many other challenges he faces every day. We assist with bandage changes, putting him to sleep, bath time, doctor's appointments, meals, play time, and much more. We Love Eli!
