Eli’s Brachial Plexus Injury Recovery

Hello, my name is Ashley,

I am starting this gofundme account in the hope that compassionate friends, family and even benevolent strangers will consider helping us financially during this very trying time.

As a brief explanation of the events that brought us here: our son Eli, now 1 year old, had his arm and shoulder severely injured when the doctor pulled him out during the delivery. As a result, he has lost the majority of the function of his arm and shoulder and could be permanently disabled.

Greatly concerned and desperate to rectify the damage, we consulted with multiple doctors, including orthopedists, who counseled us to “watch and wait.” They pushed us to wait to consider surgery until he was almost a year old – to see if Eli regained mobility of his arm naturally. He didn’t.

Having lost confidence in our attending doctors we sought a “second opinion” with doctors at Children’s Hospital in LA. We were told if we had waited much longer (as we were advised to do), Eli would have permanently lost the use of his arm. With no promises of outcome because so much time had passed, the doctors immediately scheduled Eli for a very complicated surgery in October, which, as you can imagine, has left us both angry and frustrated with his prior doctors and sitting on pins and needles as we approach his upcoming surgery.

And this is where we are in desperate need of your love and generosity: Everything we’ve had to do over the last year and months prior to the CHLA surgery (which include an avalanche of medical tests, phys therapy, doctor visits, co-pays, and assorted travel and living expenses… which will continue post surgery, including extensive physical therapy for a minimum of a year into the future) have all been out of pocket and have utterly drained our meager savings, leaving us in a rather precarious situation.

It pains me to impose upon the charity of others, but we would deeply appreciate any help you might consent to give. Every penny is greatly appreciated and will go toward seeing that our son regains as much use of his arm as humanly possible.
