Elin’s Health Journey

Donation protected

At the end of October our sister, Elin Henderson, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Up to that point she had been serving as a missionary for 16 years in Mozambique, Africa, with her family. While in the US on a short home assignment she went in to the  doctors for a biopsy of a suspicious lump on her breast. Two days later she found out it was in fact breast cancer. Two days after that she found out it was an aggressive Stage 2 HER2 positive Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. https://www.webmd.com/breast-cancer/her2#1-1

Elin and her husband, Phil, were in Wales, Wisconsin when the diagnosis was made. God has allowed many details to come together for them to quickly diagnose this cancer, to be set up with a good team of doctors, and to find a place to live. Thankfully, this cancer is quite treatable. This week begins the year long difficult journey of chemotherapy, radiation and a mastectomy.

Their daughter Callie (aged 19) attends a nearby Bible college,  and their son Elias (aged 17) is attending high school at Rift Valley Academy in Kenya.

Because this was unexpected, Elin and her family have many needs right now. And we, her family, decided to open this go fund me project in order to help her out.

Elin has been God's hands and feet to many people over the years and now we have a chance to be God’s hands and feet to her.

The amount we raise will be used to help cover the following expenses;

1.$5400 to cover their deductible and max-out-pocket expenses for the remainder of 2019.
2. $5800 to cover their deductible and max-out-pocket expenses for 2020.
3. $6000 to cover the cost of a vehicle that has AWD for their upcoming winter in WI.
4. Other expenses related to setting up a home here in the US.

Please consider giving Only if you feel led to do so! Elin and Phil would never want anyone to feel pressured into this.

If you would prefer to receive a tax deductible receipt, you may also give through their mission website using the link below, it just won’t reflect on this project.
