Elijah's Madagascar Global Expedition Trip

Next summer I will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Madagascar through Shasta College in association with Operation Wallacea. The Madagascar Global Expedition Program is part of a course combination requiring course enrollment and active involvement in specific Shasta College courses that take place online and, in the field, and focus on conservation biology, ecology, geology, and natural and cultural history of the region. While on this trip I will not only get to explore Madagascar and all of its natural wonders but I will also be earning college credits. My career goal is to be an environmentalist, someone who studies and assists in restoring the environment and by doing this I could put seven life science college credits towards my degree. On the trip we will be camping in the dry bush forests, catching and studying lizards, birds and plants, and even diving into the reefs of Nosy Be where we can watch marine life in action. I have signed up and been accepted for this program, but the cost is high. The trip itself is $6500 which covers airfare, food, transportation, activities, and stay. I will still need to purchase gear and obtain my passport. While I will be applying for scholarships they will not cover the entire cost. I humbly ask you to donate, but I do not expect the entire cost to be covered solely by donations so I would love to work some odd jobs for your donation. I also have a part-time job and all of my earnings will be going towards this trip. Any money that ends up getting covered by me and/or scholarships I will return! Please help me experience the magnificent culture and natural world of Madagascar while working towards my future career!
