Elijah Posana Aid Fund
Our beloved Elijah Posana had gone missing at around 11:30 am on 05/02 in an attempt to save his younger cousins lives. Elijah was a 22 year old United States Airman who saved his 2 younger cousins from drowning in a riptide. After pushing his 15 year old and 11 year old cousins to a safe zone, he was swept up in a current and pulled away from shore. He was last seen 100 feet from the Surfside Beach shore. He is 5’8 and was last seen wearing a maroon shirt and black shorts.
Despite the tireless search efforts of his family, Surfside Police Department, and The United States Coast Guard, Elijahs body was not found in the first 24 hours. After the 24 hour mark, the US Coast Guard retracted their search for Elijah. They told us his body could be in the undertow or near Galveston and the coast guards resources’ were maxed out. Our family continued to search day and night for him, we refused to rest until he was brought home. Our family walked miles of shoreline, checked under bridges, and through canals to find him.
On May 4th around 7:00 am, Elijahs family was searching Surfside Beach for any signs of him. Elijah’s father spotted Elijah’s body, about a foot in the water, and pulled him onto land. He was found appx 3 miles from where the incident first took place. With no help from the police department or coast guard, Elijahs father was devastated having to pull his own sons body to safety. Elijah’s family sat on the shore for 2 hours, waiting for his body to be picked up.
Elijah is the laughter and sunshine of our family, his smile is infectious and he brings laughter everywhere he goes. We are desperately praying for his family and are extending our hearts out to you. All donations will be put towards expanding the resources and expenditures to ensuring Elijah and his family are presented with a proper memorial, as well as taken care of during this hard time.
Elijah is a hero, to our family and our country. He has served us, now it is our turn to serve him.
