Help Heal Eli’s Heart

In 2016, Eli experienced health complications that left him with 20% function of his heart. Eli is the last person you would expect this to happen to. He goes to the gym daily and runs his own business. He plays soccer and is an active 33 year old. He did not let this first round of medical issues get him down though. He worked hard and resumed his life to the best of his abilities, returning to work, and even taking in a few road trips.
However, this past holiday season he experienced more health issues. He developed an infection, and his heart was not able to keep up. The result is that he now needs a heart pump and eventually a heart transplant. His heart is no longer able to pump effectively on it's own without medications and a pump.
What does all this mean? It means a lot of medical expense, it means the loss of business opportunities and growth, therefore a loss of income. It means that he will need to have someone available to assist him with medical needs for up to 2 years. It means the expenses incurred for family members who need to take time off work; the cost of accomodations, food etc as he will have to travel to another province, should the phone ring, and he be so lucky to receive a heart transplant. At the time of transplant Eli and family will be required to stay out of province for up to 3 months until he is stable enough to return home. These expenses are all out of pocket and not covered. The list of expenses incurred in this situation are endless.
