Eli Dean Welch Heart Fund

Eli Dean Welch was born Monday, September 25, 2017 at St Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA. Within a few minutes he was taken from his Mom because of respiratory distress. They were unable to stablize him so he was transferred to NICU at the medical center in Columbus. About 4 hours later Mom was called by a doctor in the NICU who stated that Eli was a very sick baby and he was being transferred to Childrens Hospital of Atlanta. The doctor said he was 90% sure he had a cardiac problem. Mom, Dad, and 10 year old brother Talan drove to Atlanta and were able to see him after he had an emergent cardiac catheterization to improve his oxygen levels. He is currently in CCICU in critical condition. Doctors are trying to stabilize him so he can tolerate open heart surgery to correct a congenital heart defect called Transposition of the great vessels.
Eli will have to undergo multiple surgeries to correct his heart defect. Mom, and Dad plan on staying in Atlanta as much as possible while keeping their older son in school. All donations will help with travel, lodging and eating expenses. Both Mom and Dad have said that any money they do not use will be donated to the hospital and the Ronald McDonald house where they have received so much compassion and help from.
