For years the 'Silver City Cinema' has stood the test of time. Outlasting any rivals and competitors in town with its iconic beautiful retro cinema look and ever so lovely staff.

Any EXTRA money donated will be put aside for funding and maintaining the elevator to ensure this campaign instills long lasting benefits for the community and not a burden for John's business.
John Wren has been an icon in Broken Hill for decades, it was John who allowed producers of the iconic movie Mad Max II to use the cinema to review footage, giving the cinema and city historical value in relation to film tourism in Broken Hill yet again. John holds a charitiy night every sunday and also holds regular fundraisers for the community, high schools and more.
Overcoming a major health drama!
In 1997 John was diagnosed with a tumour in his spinal cord, and underwent surgery in Adelaide to have it removed.
The operation left him as an incomplete quadriplegic.
It was only after nine months of rehabilitation that he was able to walk again and return to Broken Hill to operate the cinema.

Upon his return John continued to host regular fundraisers at the cinema as a way to give back to his community.
"I did it to make people aware of what the cinema is capable of, and also it gives me the strength to keep the doors open"- John Wren
i think its time we give the cinema an elevator or lift, to lift all of our spirits like John has done for the last few decades!
