Elena's Medical Recovery

A couple of weeks ago my mom had a life-changing fall on her way to work. She broke her wrist and sprained her ankle as she was walking down the sidewalk, on her usual morning route. I rushed her to the hospital, where she was admitted and received emergency medical care. I never left her side and helped her accomplish everyday tasks all day and night such as walking, eating, using the restroom, brushing her hair, and washing her hands. Her doctors informed us that she might need surgery.

She received surgery this past week for her severely broken wrist (it shattered into many pieces). My mom is a hair stylist and relies on her hands to work. She has not been able to return to work since her fall and has very limited mobility. Her doctor has estimated at least 4 more months of treatment with therapy for her hand/wrist, which means she will need to re-learn how to use her hand. She can regain at most, about 80% of normal function.

We've been at her side during this painful time, ensuring she is as comfortable as possible as she heals and recovers and she has remained strong with the support of friends and family. She is eager to regain her mobility. Any funds raised will go toward her medical bills, treatment, care, daily expenses, and lost wages.
