Elementary School Play

My name is Christina and I am a 3rd grade teacher, as well as the director of the Rotella Inter-district Magnet School, school play. We are an art magnet school that focuses on integrating drama, music, dance, visual art, and media art into our everyday curriculum. By integrating the arts into our teaching the students have expanded their ability to understand common core concepts.
Every year, the students put on a huge production that they audition to be in. They make sacrafices to be there everyday afterschool for rehearsal. This year we have been rehearsing since October, and then found out recently, that our Magnet school funding has been cut. There is no money for the students costumes, backdrops, and props. We even lost the funding for bussing. Our parents have been amazing, and agreed to find a way to pick the students up every day after rehearsal, when they normally utilize the bussing.
We will use this money to buy costumes, props, and a backdrops for the students. We also are in need of new microphones, and batteries, and materials to create our play program. We would need the funding for this project by February 2017, in order to be ready for our performance in early April!
These donations would mean so much to me, because I work with these children everyday both in school and after school and I see how hard they are working. They would be devestated if they did not have a school play this year, especially since they have already been working on it for two months. The students have so much pride in the parts that they have earned for this show, and they show so much courage to stand up infront of their peers and act, sing and dance. I also take alot of pride in working with these students, and when I see the end product of their show each year I am amazed to see what they can do, and the professionalism they show as elementary school children. I would be extremely thankful if our play was funded so we could continue with all the hard work they have already put in. I know the students would be extremely thankful as well because they take great pride in this play, and I take great pride in them.
