Children's Literacy Program

Did you know that 2/3 of students who cannot read proficiently by the end of 4th grade will end up in jail or on welfare? And that more than half of the United States' 4th graders read below their grade level?

      · Over 10% of students in the United States are English Language Learners (ELL).

      · Over 60% of 4th grade ELL students read below grade level

      · 1 in 4 students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools are English Language Learners

      · Only 59.9% of CMS ELL students graduate

      · 46% increase at least 1 reading level
