Voluntary Placement In Nepal - Heath Care
Donation protected
Dear reader,
Ben Crew and I are second-year student paramedics, with aspirations to travel with our careers in the future, to areas in need. Therefore, we are independently setting ourselves a challenge to travel to Nepal for three weeks in the summer of 2021 after our hard work completing year 2 of our degree and working as key workers throughout the pandemic. In Nepal, we will be volunteering our services to Nepal’s health care system, to help provide treatment for marginalised communities.
Our chosen elective placement has no on-scene emergency care, and with their limited resources, they result in performing procedures such as manual intubation in corridors, with little medication. Ben and I will be able to observe the significant differences in the fundamentals of emergency medicine, where primary care does not exist, and patients use A&E as their GP surgery. Additionally, we will provide our useful skills and knowledge that we would have further developed throughout this second year, alongside Nepal's health care workers. We also plan to impact the education system by teaching first aid in schools, to encourage intergenerational understanding of the importance of first aid. We aspire to utilise our data to produce content with our findings that we can pass on to the people who are interested in our adventure.
To meet our goal, we will be working part-time jobs through this pandemic, alongside our studies, and full-time placement blocks for this academic year. We are only trying to raise 50% of the cost, to help aid our chances of success. Any donation size or share of this fundraiser will help us!
Thank you for reading this far and have a great day!
