<div>When we say Eleanor is the baby, we mean it in every sense. She’s the sixth child of Laura and Tyler Welch, surrounded by the love of three older sisters and two older brothers. Born into a family full of warmth and affection, Eleanor’s arrival was eagerly anticipated. After five relatively smooth pregnancies, Laura and Tyler learned that Eleanor would be born with a heart defect. While they expected a minor surgery soon after her birth on January 13th, they could never have anticipated the path they’re now on—sweet Eleanor, in need of a heart transplant.

<div>To say that Eleanor has faced a few challenges along the way would be an enormous understatement. In her first three weeks of life, she underwent four surgeries, yet she continues to defy the odds and fight with unmatched strength. Her doctors have been truly astonished by her resilience and determination to overcome each obstacle placed in her path. But in reality, her journey is just beginning.

<div>From the very beginning, our family proudly embraced the name "Eleanor’s Army," and our mission is to share Eleanor’s story while raising awareness about the heart challenges faced by so many families. Our goal is to shine a light on the struggles of those living with cardiovascular difficulties, and to offer support and understanding to those who need it most.

<div>We also want to take this moment to express our deepest gratitude to Children's Hospital of Milwaukee, for the exceptional care they have provided Eleanor, and for the life-changing work they do for countless babies, children, and adolescents. Their dedicated care teams are among the very best in the world when it comes to treating heart defects, and we are forever thankful for their expertise and compassion at Children’s Hospital.
