Elderly Couple Robbed

A lovely old couple who live in my neighbourhood have been scammed out of their life saving (the roof scam). A guy knocked at their door telling them their roof was about to collapse. They believed him; he had a dumpster delivered to their door, then started pulling off roof tiles. He disappeared with $20,000 and they have been left with a gaping hole in their roof.
Anthony and Maria have been living in their Lilyfield home for 60 years. Anthony is 86 years old and is in poor health. He migrated here from Malta, worked as a Wharfie at Cockatoo Island and raised a family and built a life in Australia.
They have been left feeling scared, vulnerable and foolish , which they are not, but they trusted the wrong person and now they have no savings, a hole in their roof and a big hole in their hearts where once there was trust, faith and optimism.
A neighbour has paid to have a tarpaulin put on their roof but a group of us want to raise enough money for it to be fixed, and more importantly restore their faith in human nature. Please help if you can.
