My Father, a life-long hard worker used to be a technical electronics journalist and since retiring has maintained his own business that recycles a variety of hard to find cameras, electronics, magazines, guides, books, maps as well as many other useful things like the replacement panels for car radios.
He used to take enormous lengths to reunite people with their lost property like PDAs at no profit, for example.
He has worked hard his whole life against the odds. He was burgled twice, losing tens of thousands of pounds of equipment during a period of no insurance as well as stolen from at Euston station for thousand of pounds more.
Yet still he has always helped out others at sacrifice to himself.
In the last six months his business, that is mostly on eBay, has been battered by a series of hospitalisations and the inability to fulfil orders and the consequential negative marks against an excellent record has brought him down.
His Lymphoma is very aggressive and he has now started chemotherapy which will be ongoing. At 79 there is no real possibility for him to visit his granddaughter who lives in Indonesia and is six years old.
He has never had any home help and is sorely in need of assistance.
Equally, I am not able to fund a trip to the UK due to my own chronic health problems.
The money raised here would be used to fund flights to the UK so that:
1. he could see his granddaughter for the final time 2. so that his small very overpriced storage unit and cosy but over-filled sheltered home could be organised 3. to cover the cost of removals to a cheaper and/or more accessible location 4. to pay off credit card debt
