A good friend of mine from childhood, Elayne, was involved in a car accident on January 3, 2016. She had just returned from vacation and was getting ready to head back to work as a Shift Manager at Starbucks where she had been working for the past 5 years. Little did Elayne know the events that occurred later that day would change her life forever.
While stopped at a red light she was hit from behind by a drunk driver who not only totaled her car, but left her severely injured. Elayne’s injuries include the spine, neck, back, shoulders and her left leg. She has already undergone one spinal surgery back in February of 2017 and is facing two additional surgeries. In addition, she faces shoulder surgery. Elayne currently has to use a walker to get around. She lives every single second in extreme pain.
Following the accident, she has not been able to work. Her health insurance only lasted a few months, which at the time allowed for her to seek treatment from doctors and therapists. Once her coverage stopped Elayne began paying for doctors, therapists, prescriptions, etc. out of pocket.
To date she has gone through all of her savings, wiped out her retirement accounts, and is in the negative on all credit cards. She is living on food stamps and unable to live in her current apartment because she cannot pay the landlord. Elayne has been given the runaround from the courts and she is fearful of the absolute worst, which seems closer than she would really like.
She would never ask for help nor want sympathy from her friends or better yet strangers. This is a desperate plea of help on her behalf. If you could find it in your hearts to donate Elayne, her family and myself would be ever so grateful. No donation is too small as of right now she has nothing to live on and her family has helped all they can.
The money will be used for medical treatment and for daily living such as food, clothes, rent, etc…
