Elaine's Cancer Treatment

7-year old Elaine Montero was hospitalized and diagnosed with a brain tumor last month, after losing movement in her leg and arm. She needs a 30-day treatment of radiation to reduce the size of the tumor, before doctors can reassess her options.
Elaine is the granddaughter of my Dominican host mom, who welcomed me into her home and took care of me during my Peace Corps service. She comes from a kind and loving family, but not family of significant means. Having spent all that they have, her family is in need of RD$100,000 ($2,100 US) to complete the radiation treatment and cover the cost of a brain scan to measure the results.
The family needs RD$17,400 ($400 US) by October 31st, and the remaining RD$82,600 ($1700 US) by November 20th.
