Supporting young families in need

ADAPT is an association of English speaking people based in the Murcia region of Spain.  Most of our members are retired Brits and our aim is to give something back to the local community that has welcomed us here.  We do this by helping out in local schools, working in nature conservation schemes and participating in cultural events, among other things.

Since the financial crisis we have donated food and other essentials to a local charity called El Samaritano which helps families who are in extreme need of support.  There is far less of a safety net for families in Spain than there is in the UK and in most cases these are working families who have lost their means of income and are simply unable to survive without extra help.

Our theatre group has been performing pantomimes involving the local community for nearly ten years and all our proceeds go to pay for food supplies for the following year.  Because of the Covid 19 pandemic we are unable to perform this year’s pantomime, whilst at the same the needs in the community are greater than ever.

We are asking you for small donations (our ticket price is 4 euros) to help make up this shortfall.  If we can raise just 2000€ this will go some way to helping some young families survive during these difficult days.  Please donate in your local currency as your bank or card company will convert your donation to euros.
