<div>Yuma, nuestro maestro, necesita de nuestro apoyo para continuar con su proceso de sanación después de haber recibido un diagnóstico de cáncer de próstata.

<div>Hace meses anunciamos que nuestro maestro Guillermo Díaz Yuma atravesaba una situación delicada de salud a causa de una lesión ocupante de espacio de aproximadamente 3 x 3 cm en la unión de la fosa prostática y el labio anterior del cuello de la vejiga. Después de varios estudios se determinó que la lesión se debe a un diagnóstico de cáncer de próstata con metástasis. A partir de este diagnóstico, Yuma empezó a recibir tratamiento de bloqueo hormonal y fue puesto en espera para poderle realizar una operación efectuada el día 10 de octubre en la que se le realizó un RTUP (Resección transuretral de próstata) para disminuir el tamaño y realizar biopsia. A partir del diagnóstico, sabemos que necesitaremos de al menos seis ciclos de quimioterapia para que Yuma continúe viviendo con la mejor calidad de vida que sea posible en su condición.

<div>Durante estos meses y en la actualidad, Yuma continúa dando clases y dirigiendo piezas de teatro, lleno de energía y vida a pesar de las condiciones.

<div>Hoy en día, en un crítico contexto económico, social y político, se hace cuesta arriba atender cualquier emergencia. Es por ello que acudimos a la solidaridad de todas y todos, alumnos, colegas, amigos y allegados, con el propósito de recolectar lo necesario para cubrir los gastos de esta nueva batalla que comenzamos con nuestro querido Yuma.

<div>Yuma es actor, director, pedagogo, investigador y fundador —junto al Maestro Eduardo Gil— del Taller Experimental de Teatro (actualmente Centro de Creación Artística TET, uno de los pocos grupos en Venezuela con más de 50 años de trayectoria). Este maestro ha formado a muchas generaciones de artistas y creadores, transmitiendo una metodología, una disciplina y una particular visión de la vida y del teatro, con una profunda entrega y compromiso a la enseñanza del oficio. Desempeñando su labor docente ha abierto un espacio de trabajo para que cada alumno encuentre por sí mismo lo que necesita descubrir; valorando las individualidades y las potencialidades particulares. En casi 50 años dedicados a la educación, ha entregado a las nuevas generaciones de actores, directores, hacedores de teatro, de danza y de cine unos principios de trabajo que constituye un valioso legado, lo que hace de Yuma un referente en la historia del teatro venezolano. Actualmente, Yuma asiste todos los días al Teatro Luis Peraza donde continúa con generosidad desempeñando su labor de maestro en el Centro de Formación e investigación Actoral, con el Taller de Formación a Jóvenes Directores y en sus clases de drama de la Universidad Experimental de Las Artes (UNEARTE).

<div>Yuma, our teacher, needs our support to continue his healing process after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

<div>Months ago, we announced that our teacher, Guillermo Díaz Yuma, was going through a delicate health situation due to a 3 x 3 cm space-occupying lesion located at the junction of the prostatic fossa and the anterior lip of the bladder neck. After several tests, it was determined that the lesion is due to a diagnosis of prostate cancer with metastasis. Following this diagnosis, Yuma began receiving hormone-blocking treatment and was placed on a waiting list for surgery, which was performed on October 10. During this procedure, a TURP (transurethral resection of the prostate) was performed to reduce the size of the lesion and obtain a biopsy. Based on the diagnosis, we know that at least six cycles of chemotherapy will be necessary for Yuma to continue living with the best possible quality of life under his condition.

<div>Throughout these months and to this day, Yuma continues teaching and directing theater pieces, filled with energy and life despite his circumstances.

<div>In today’s critical economic, social, and political context, addressing any emergency has become an uphill battle. This is why we turn to the solidarity of students, colleagues, friends, and acquaintances to gather the resources necessary to cover the costs of this new challenge we are facing with our beloved Yuma.

<div>Yuma is an actor, director, educator, researcher, and founder—alongside Maestro Eduardo Gil—of the Experimental Theater Workshop (currently the Center for Artistic Creation, TET), one of the few groups in Venezuela with over 50 years of history. This teacher has trained many generations of artists and creators, sharing a methodology, discipline, and a unique vision of life and theater, with profound dedication and commitment to teaching the craft. In his teaching career, he has created a working environment where each student can discover what they need to find for themselves, valuing individuality and particular potential. Over nearly 50 years dedicated to education, he has passed on principles of work to new generations of actors, directors, and theater, dance, and film creators—principles that constitute a valuable legacy, making Yuma a key figure in the history of Venezuelan theater.

<div>Currently, Yuma attends the Luis Peraza Theater every day, generously continuing his role as a teacher at the Center for Actoral Training and Research, the Youth Directors Training Workshop, and in his drama classes at the Experimental University of the Arts (UNEARTE).
