Ekica school for underprivileged kids Tanzania

My daughter spent a summer in Arusha, Tanzania volunteering at a school for underprivileged kids.  She fell in love with the children, the teachers and the country. The school was struggling at that time to provide education for a limited number of children. Through hard work, donations and volunteers the school has been able to expand their program and help more children and their families. They continue to  build new classrooms and even have their own water well (which they generously opened to the entire community). Clean water has made a huge difference to the health of the children and the community. They are also teaching families how to farm, and fund vegetable patches and chicken coups. This helps reduce cost for the school and provide additional sources of income to the kids’ families, who are struggling as well. The school provides education and lunch - sometimes that is the child’s only meal.

The latest classroom will be completed in January. My goal is to raise enough money to help provide classroom supplies and support the school with desperately needed funding for teacher salaries, kids’ lunches and live chickens for sustainability.

What your money can buy for the school and children:
$1.50 feeds a child for week!
$4 for a live chicken - children learn to care for animals, grow confident, feed their family and sell the eggs
$20 for a desk or chair, made by a local craftsman, for the new classroom
$1.30 buys 10 pencils
$131 for a swing set
$13 for a school uniform
$26 for 60 metal plates
$580- one month’s meals for all 112 kids
$787 - one month’s salary for all teaches
