Hi, I’m Edelyn (EJ). In September, a few days after my 32nd birthday, I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma aka stage 2 breast cancer.
In October, I started chemotherapy. It was a big shock for my family and me. You see, we just moved across the country in July excited for our new life when I was suddenly bombarded with doctor appointments after doctor appointments. I’ve never had so many doctors and so much medicine in a short amount of time. With that said, bills pile on.
We have three small kids (6, 3, and 1 year old). I am a stay at home mom because my husband’s job requires him to travel. Team Ledoux is what we call ourselves and one cannot work well without the other. So when all this started, coming up with a game plan was a bit of an obstacle. Moreover, it hasn’t been easy for the kids having me gone so much for doctor appointments, tests, and treatments. My treatments are usually 6-8 hours at a time. Thankfully, my parents are able to come for a few months to bond with the kids, while Jon (my husband) and I go to my circus of appointments.
Jon will not admit it, but I know it’s hard for him too. He has been my punching bag and comfort pillow through this crazy rollercoaster. The ride is not over and we are well into my treatments until October of next year. It’s a lot to take in since we’re young and rather than thinking of our next adventure, we pray that I get through this without any complications.
It’s hard to stay positive at times, especially in front of the kids, but my husband is trying and I can’t help but feel helpless. So, in order to help my husband in anyway, I’m hoping to raise enough to take off some of the financial burden. My husband is good at managing our expenses, but this little bump on the road threw us by surprise emotionally and financially.
The donations will be used to help cover our health insurance co-pay, since our insurance doesn't cover the entire costs. Any help is appreciated and we are truly grateful for all those helping us every step of the way.
