MASON'S VOICE/(Private Speech Therapy)
Mason Thomas Stewart is a 4 1/2 year old nonverbal autistic child. He has to have 24/7 self help, and he lacks all skill to care for himself in any way. Still not potty trained, Mason also can't tell me simple things like how he feels, if he is hungry, or blurt the words I love you Mom...yet he is the happiest, most humble, loving child I could ever ask for! He was diagnosed on the spectrum at the age of 2. It's been a journey for he and I, but it's what we know. And he is my tour guide every step of the way!
Mason gets minimal Speech and Occupational therapy thru his insurance...but he is only allowed 2) 30 minute speech sessions a week, and 1) 45 minute occupational session. Mason's speech therapist put in for additional services, but we were denied:( So she put a request in to his therapy company, and they are going to offer $120 and hour sessions available asap! (We are shooting for 2 of these a week thru March to start with) His therapist, Mrs. Kim, feels Mason has a window open that needs acted upon, and what he is getting right now is just not cutting it. So, with all that said, I'm swallowing my pride, and reaching out to the community, family, and friends. Private therapy is very expensive. But this is the lst time in 2 years of therapy that I have been asked to step it up and get him in it if at all possible...So here we are! Thank you ahead to anyone who choses to donate!
