I am Bashiyra Williams a 4th year, 5 year MBA major from Prince George's county Maryland.
I will be competing on October 10th to become my schools next Miss Hampton University and my platform is;
"The strength from within; Promoting domestic violence prevention by encouraging females to find their inner voice."
Our nation has recently experienced multiple public domestic violence incidents, and as a young woman who has personally experienced the embarrassment and hurt that accompany domestic violence I am passionate about promoting my platform. As Miss Hampton University I would spread awareness about prevention and correct ways to go about handling or reporting an incident if it happens to you or your friends. Often times violent incidents in teens go unreported and I believe through mentorship that encourages self empowerment, we can change that statistic. Promoting healthy relationship qualities that not only include preventing violence but also understanding the dangers of verbal and emotional abuse.
In order to achieve my dream of becoming Miss Hampton University I must first compete in our Pageant which will be held on our campus October 10th. all contestants are encouraged to raise a thousand dollars which will be awarded to the winners of the pageant in scholarship money and used to support Miss Hampton in promoting her platform during her reign.
