Tracie Summers was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998, when her boys Spencer and Nelson were in Kindergarten and 3rd Grade. Despite undergoing treatment for cancer three times, Tracie has fought cancer with courage and a joyful spirit for sixteen years!
She and her husband, Stuart, continue to trust in God and His faithfulness. Two of her favorite Scriptures are Genesis 18:14 and Romans 8:28. Genesis 18:14 says, "Is anything too hard for the Lord?" Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." Tracie loves these verses because they are a constant reminder that whatever life has in store, God will not leave her or forsake her.
In 2012, Tracie learned that the breast cancer had returned in her backbone and the tissue of her upper chest. Despite this recurrence, she is fighting harder than ever and determined to beat this disease.
Recently, we discovered that the cancer cells have metastasized in her liver and other parts of her body. The continuing spread of her cancer will require chemotherapy and other treatments. While we are blessed to have health insurance, we are not able to afford the high costs of her ongoing treatment that insurance will not cover.
