Eisa was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2014.
By 2015 he had developed Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC). However, throughout his illness he managed to study hard and got a place at Bristol University in 2016. Sadly by the time he started University the PSC symptoms began to accelerate. By December he had to withdraw from university and return home to get full time care.
As the disease is inflammation in the bile ducts of the liver, it directly effects Eisa's day to day life. His symptoms include insomnia, fatigue and tiredness, generalised aching, pruritus (itching), pain in the abdomen, jaundice, chills and fevers.
In addition, Eisa has had severe weight loss, he has gone from his usual 65kg down to 51kg which is in itself extremely worrying. In September 2017 Eisa collapsed and was admitted in hospital for 2 weeks where he needed a blood transfusion and IV antibiotics. Since then, Eisa's health has not improved and the hospital has finally admitted that he will need a liver transplant.
Until then we are using various complimentary therapies to help Eisa. The main treatment is functional medicine nutrionalist support which is helping Eisa's biochemistry. He also sees a homeopath, reflexologist and osteopath to help support him reach homeostasis state.
The cost of the treatments stems to approximately £500 - £600 a month. We have had family members donate large sums of money but those funds are running out. Furthermore I need to be home with Eisa so I can care for him.
I am a single mum and a secondary school teacher but will need to temporarily leave my job until Eisa reaches full health.
We need financial support so that I am able to continue to do this. In order to achieve this we aim to raise £20k for next year to cover the cost of his treatments and needs.
