<div>Kultur lebt durch Geschichten weiter - und wir möchten sie auf die große Leinwand bringen. Dazu werden wir den Spielfilm <strong>Athro Rhimo - Geliebte Heimat </strong>drehen, der eine unterhaltsame Geschichte mit klarem Bezug zur Assyrischen Kultur, Tradition und Gemeinschaft erzählt.

<div>Drehbuch und Regie vom assyrischen Berliner Regisseur Aziz Said (unter Anderem: Exodus - Episoden aus der assyrischen Geschichte (Dokumentarfilm 1988), Darbo d'Hubo (Spielfilm 2007)

<div>Der Film wird im Jahr 2025 in Deutschland und in Midyat gedreht, einer historisch assyrischen Stadt, die etwa 5.000 Jahre alt ist und in Obermesopotamien (dem heutigen Südosten der Türkei) liegt. Die multikulturelle Stadt Midyat, die noch immer vollständig bewohnt ist, war in der Antike eine Provinzhauptstadt des assyrischen Reiches und trug damals den Namen „Matiate“, ein altassyrischer Name, der „Stadt der Höhlen“ bedeutet. Noch heute gibt es viele solcher Höhlen sowie zahlreiche historische Funde in und um Midyat aus der Zeit des alten Assyrischen Reiches und aus den Anfängen des Christentums, darunter alte assyrisch-syrische christliche Klöster, die ab dem Jahr 225 n. Chr. erbaut wurden.

<div>Midyat ist zudem von den assyrischen Izlo-Bergen umgeben, in denen die besten Weinreben wachsen und seit der Zeit des alten Assyrischen Reiches hervorragender Wein produziert wird. Der Film wird die multikulturelle und multiethnische Stadt, ihre geschichtsträchtige Umgebung und das friedliche Zusammenleben verschiedener Völker in der Region zeigen.

<div>Das Original wird in Assyrischer / Armäischer Sprache sein und mit verschiedenen Sprachoptionen untertitelt (Englisch, Deutsch, Spanisch). Ebenfalls angedacht ist eine deutsche Synchronfassung - die Machbarkeit dieser hängt vom erreichten Spendenziel ab.

<div><strong>Die Geschichte:</strong>

<div>Ein Liebesdrama, welches sich ebenfalls sozialen und sozialkritischen Themen annimmt.

<div>Die assyrische Sängerin Linora ist in Deutschland geboren. Ihre Eltern kommen aus Midyat und leben seit ihrer Rente wieder dort. Linora, eine starke, selbstbewusste und offene Mutter und Ehefrau, bleibt in Deutschland.
</div>
<div>Eines morgens verschwindet ihr Ehemann Simon. Zusammen mit Polizei, Freunden und Verwandten beginnt die Suche. Er wird nicht gefunden.
</div>
<div>Ist das nicht schlimm genug, wird ihrem 9-jährigen Sohn einige Monate später ein Herzleiden diagnostiziert. Linora möchte mehr Zeit mit ihm verbringen und nimmt Abschied von den ihr so geliebten musikalischen Aktivitäten als Sängerin.
</div>
<div>Ganze 11 Monate nach seinem verschwinden, meldet sich plötzlich Simon. Er lebt mit einer neuen Famillie im Ausland. Linora will die Scheidung.
</div>
<div>Aus Sorge um Tochter und Enkelkind, bitten sie ihre Eltern nach Midyat zu kommen. Linora willigt ein und entdeckt die Stadt und Menschen, mit denen sie kulturell verwurzelt ist. Ihrem Sohn Ankido geht es in der neuen Umgebung besser. Dann lernt Linora jemanden kennen - doch auch ihr verschwundener Simon ist noch nicht ganz aus dem Bilde. Es beginnt eine vielschichtige Geschichte über Freundschaft, Liebe, Vertrauen, Gesundheit und die Idee von Heimat.

<div>Das Projekt hat schon viele Hürden genommen. Drehorte, Produktionsteam und Schauspieler sind für den Start der Dreharbeiten im Sommer 2025 bereit. Als Startkapital vorhanden sind bereits ca. 70.000,- EUR, Ziel der Kampagne sind etwa 150.000.

<div><strong>About the Production</strong>
</div>
<div>Screenplay by experienced assyrian director Aziz Said from Berlin (among others: Exodus - episodes from the newer assyrian history (documentary, 1988), D'arbo d'Hubo (feature film, 2007).
</div>
<div>The film will be shot in 2025 in Germany and Midyat, a historically Assyrian city about 5,000 years old in Upper Mesopotamia (today's southeastern Turkey). The multicultural city of Midyat, which is still fully inhabited, was a provincial capital in the ancient Assyrian Empire and was called "Matiate" back then, an ancient Assyrian name meaning "City of the Caves." There are still many such caves and numerous historical finds in and around Midyat from the ancient Assyrian Empire and from the beginnings of Christianity, such as old Assyrian-Syriac Christian monasteries, which were built from 225 AD onwards. Midyat is also surrounded by the Assyrian Izlo Mountains, where the best grapevines grow, and where the best wine has been produced since the time of the ancient Assyrian Empire. The film will showcase the multicultural and multiethnic city, its historically rich environment, and the peaceful coexistence of diverse peoples in the area.

<div>The original language will be Assyrian/Aramaic, with subtitles available in English, German, and Spanish. A German-dubbed version is also planned, depending on the funds raised.

<div><strong>The Story</strong>
</div>
<div>A love drama, also touching social topics.
</div>
<div>The Assyrian singer Linora was born in Germany. Her parents, originally from Midyat, have returned there after retirement. Linora, a strong, independent, and open-minded mother and wife, remains in Germany.
</div>
<div>One morning, her husband Simon suddenly disappears. With the help of the police, friends, and family, she searches for him—but he is nowhere to be found.
</div>
<div>As if that weren’t devastating enough, a few months later, her 9-year-old son is diagnosed with a heart condition. Wanting to spend more time with him, Linora decides to leave behind her beloved music career as a singer.
</div>
<div>Then, 11 months after his disappearance, Simon unexpectedly reaches out. He is living abroad with a new family. Linora decides to file for divorce.
</div>
<div>Concerned for their daughter and grandson, Linora’s parents invite her to Midyat. She agrees and begins to reconnect with the people and culture of her heritage. Her son Ankido also starts feeling better in this new environment.

<div>Linora meets someone new—yet her past with Simon is not entirely behind her. What follows is a multifaceted story of friendship, love, trust, health, and the concept of home.
