Eileen Neufeld Cancer Battle Recovery Fund

Hello family and friends!

On Sunday, February 14 2021, my mom, struggling with severe back and abdominal pain admitted herself to the hospital.  Previous months  of pain and various symptoms suggested that maybe her previous back surgery was the culprit.  A CT with contrast was ordered and the  devastating  news that my mom had ovarian cancer was discovered.  After a week long hospital stay and various testing, my mother was diagnosed with Stage 3c Ovarian Cancer that had already metastasized to areas of her abdominal cavity.  Both her ovaries, omentum (layer that covers the large and small intestines), and a few other spots displayed multiple tumors.   Less than 3 years after losing her own husband to lung and liver cancer, she now faces her own uphill battle.

Although this is an aggressive cancer there is still hope. There is hope with chemotherapy and surgery that she can reach remission.  Being that her cancer has spread to multiple structures in her abdomen, surgery to remove the tumors isn't possible until she can reduce their size and stop their spread.

The Plan....

My mom will undergo several rounds of chemotherapy over the next several weeks to reduce her tumors.  Following this,  we will travel down to Vancouver for an intensive surgery.   My mother will need a complete hysterectomy and possible removal of her omentum and other abdominal structures.  Although extensive, this surgery will be followed up with more chemo to blast the rest of the cancer cells.  This surgery will take time and multiple family support to aid in her recovery and future treatment.

Since losing our dad and  facing financial hardship due to COVID (losing her job), my mom had just started a new job and was just starting to recover financially when she was hit with her devastating diagnosis.  She is already struggling to pay for medication not covered by MSP and to keep up with her monthly bills.  Although she has family and children supporting her every step of the way, we will still need your financial help.  Her trip to Vancouver and the support she will need after are something she can not afford at the moment.   Since getting her diagnosis, my mom is doing everything to keep positive and keep her health strong. She has started a new alkaline diet, anything to help her beat this cancer!  As my mom focus her energy and time to this battle and recovery, she needs your help!

Anything you can give or any prayers would be much appreciated.  She needs help with daily living expenses, food, bills, medication, traveling and support services.   I will keep you updated on her progress.  Thanks so much everyone!
