A week ago, while Brandy was being walked to her pasture, she became involved in a scuffle with another horse and caught her own leg with her shoe. The laceration cut down to the bone, causing an infection which required surgical bone-scraping, multiple flushes to the joints in her hock, and several days of in-patient care at the UW Veterinary Hospital.
As most equine endeavours do, the costs for this injury added up rather quickly, the surgery alone costing $5,000.
As a student soon to enter college, my family doesn't have the means to pay for the care my best friend of nearly a decade requires to survive.
Any donation, even the smallest, is greatly appreciated, along with any thoughts and prayers for her speedy recovery.
