I am the wife of Carrol Lathrop. We live in a small town in Texas. We moved here from the northwest some 22 years ago. My husband and I trained cutting horses for a living. The cutting horse capital of the world is in this area of Texas. We have a family of five children beween us and, 12 grand children. We have one of my daughters that is living with us with one of our precious grandsons. They have lived with us ever since he was born ( 11 Years) due to mom being a single mother and a dead beat father.
In 2011, I (Tawny) was working in the horse barn one day and the next being rushed by ambulance with a perforated ulcer in the duoduem. Needless to say, emergency surgery was done, followed by seven days intensive care unit, and a month long stay in hospital. Well, recovering involved a long lay off of a year! Due to be self employed I was forced to send horses to other trainers from my customers. Sold 30 years of tack and equipment to help make ends meet! Then tried to recover from this. As life went on I obtained a EMT license and am now working PRN! Hopefully a fulltime position will open soon!! I am telling you this because everything hinged on my husband, Carrol, working hard for us to cover all our expenses. He worked long hours for a water hauling business. However, apprx. five months ago he started having symptoms and after many procedures was diagnosed with a form of cancer in the bile column.
He is now in Baylor Medical Center, Dallas, TX. He had surgery to remove cancer. They took right side of liver and some of the left side of liver and then made a bypass attaching liver to duoduem. This was a eight hour procedure and was performed by Dr. Goldstein. on Thursday Oct. 9th 2014. He was doing well until yesterday and was sent back to ICU with a re-opened 16 inch incision . due to a blockage. It caused his BP to drop to 70/57!! Heart Rate racing @ 149!! Was very scarry! So... it has set his recovery time back even longer! Not sure if and when he will be able to work again. We have very little to live on AND AS YOU WELL KNOW, SSI will take at least seven months to assist us!
We truley need help! I cannot possibly make anough to cover expenses of living right now!! So... if their is anyone who could help us out we would welcome it!! This is very hard to ask as we have always been able to get by!!
