As many of you in the belly dance community know, my business was detrimentally compromised after my business partner passed away. It was virtually shut down at the hands of people whom I trusted to keep it going while I tended to the needs of my late partner, and for over five years my website and domain name as well as other necessary items to keep my business running were kept from me as I struggled to keep my doors open. (Here is my blog on the details called "The Rest of the Story
While I'm just now beginning to bounce back, the severe damage -- both monetarily and physical to the restaurant -- that these people caused, has taken its toll. The debt incurred is insurmountable, and I find I cannot fully recover from the now looming totals brought about from the maniacal rampage of these people, and that now come with attached penalties and interest compounded daily. Additionally, appliances that should have been kept working were ignored and are now either outdated or inoperable and have to be replaced.
Items that need attention are: Kitchen sink (photo attached), sound system, oven/stove vent replacement, dishwasher, commercial heater, floors, and so many other things.
I'm raising the necessary money to keep this venue afloat, not only because of my love and dedication to the Egyptian culture and dance arts but for the many dancers in the world who also share this love. It has become a venue for performance, an academy of learning, and an important hub, which is so much an integral part of the Egyptian and belly dance community.
My hope is that you'll see the importance of the work that I'm doing and that you'll come to the aid in helping to keep it alive and going. My place is a place of gathering of like-minded people; it offers dancers a venue in which to perform, a dance academy for hungry dance enthusiasts, and a cooking school for those furthering their Middle Eastern studies.
Much thanks for your kindness and generosity.
