EGD Collective Incorporation

Who Are We:

EGD Collective is an organization seeking to obtain 501(c)(3) public nonprofit status dedicated to creating an inclusive space for game players, developers, and esports fans. While the gaming industry is worth billions of dollars, there are many obstacles that prevent young professionals from accessing the necessary resources to further their career in the field. For example, expensive fees for expos, networking events, and for-profit boot camps.  

Our organization combats these barriers by offering free workshops, academic and career guidance, coaching, and assistance to students establishing collegiate gaming clubs. We also run fellowship programs where CUNY students receive academic support and gain real-world experience in the esports and game development industries. We hope to expand this program to public university systems nation-wide.    
 

Our Story: 

In 2016, EGD Collective, previously named the Game Design Collective, was started by a group of students at CUNY Hunter College. Since our founding four years ago, we have evolved tremendously. In the past year, we have served over 2000 students and offered over 100 free workshops, which has helped hundreds of students discover their career path, and saved 21 students from academic dismissal or dropping out at our flagship chapter in Hunter College. We now serve a network consisting of students from over 60 colleges and universities. However, we continue to lack sufficient funding. We are asking for donations to help us support our essential programs and to cover the costs for us to seek 501(c)3 status.
