Yoga by Degrees Needs YOUR Help

Wow, this is a hard letter to write. For over 10 years Yoga by Degrees has helped thousands of people improve their health and well-being. Now, unfortunately due to Covid 19 we need your help to save our business. We are hopeful that once we have a vaccine we will get back to normal, but until then we are doing all we can to save what we have built.  3 ways to help 1. Donate 2. Take class in-studio or virtually 3. Send this link to friends and family.

Yoga by Degrees is a locally owned yoga studio with 6 Chicagoland Western Suburb locations. The first location opened in Wheaton, IL in 2011. From there it has grown into a yoga community of students, teachers and staff that is dedicated to cultivating and inspiring the true essence of Yoga-connection, acceptance, love and compassion. Our continued effort in a Western feel with an Eastern influence makes Yoga by Degrees unique and, we believe, a gem in the Western Suburbs. It has always been deeply important to us to offer the physical benefits of Yoga while maintaining a devotion to the philosophy of Yoga. We believe strongly that this is why so many call Yoga by Degrees home and without it the community at large would suffer a loss.

This community means everything to the owners, teachers and staff. Over 100 teachers and staff depend on Yoga by Degrees for income. It has become a sanctuary for so many. Countless students tell the stories of how the space and teachers at Yoga by Degrees have changed their lives for the better. Helping them heal from loss, illness, addiction, anxiety, depression, stress and injury. We have seen our students, teachers and staff through major life milestones. Guiding them to use the healing power of Yoga as a tool throughout their life. Lifelong connections and friendships have unfolded over the years. Yoga by Degrees has donated to over 1,000 community fundraisers and charities including schools, churches and local businesses. With our mission in mind, we have always been devoted to giving to our community. Now, more than ever, Yoga by Degrees needs your help.

Like others, the Covid-19 pandemic has struck our small business hard. However, the Yoga by Degrees team has never faltered in our dedication to the community. Within a week of shutdown on March, 16 2020 we created a FREE virtual studio offering our students solace in yoga. This also gave our teachers the opportunity to teach and have some income. Soon after the launch of our virtual studio we began a donation page for our teachers. We continued to offer our virtual classes for free and only asked for donations, if able, that went directly to our teachers. During each pay period, when the donations were distributed, Yoga by Degrees added to the donations to give our teachers as much income as we could during shutdown. We are forever grateful to our students for their contribution to our teachers during shutdown. Thank you for sticking with us through the ups and downs of transitioning our in studio space to an online format. We all forged ahead together. Proving once again the bond of our community.

When it came time to reopen we spared nothing to ensure that our entire community of students, teachers and staff were safe. We invested over $50,000 in new flooring and electrostatic sprayers that eliminate harmful bacteria and viruses from high touch areas. Yoga by Degrees has a state of the art heating system with 24 hour ultra violet light protection. Our systems constantly filter and clean the air. All studios have socially distanced mat markers, class sizes have been lowered and teachers and staff are required to take daily temperature and health checks. Masks are required in all common areas.

Although we have done everything possible to continue business at all 6 of our area locations, the uncertainty of these times and the change in the fitness industry has continued to create strain for our locally owned small business. We thought our business would come back strong when we reopened and we were wrong. Without financial help we will be forced to close some of our studio locations.

Please help keep this yoga community alive by donating. Any amount helps with the greater whole of keeping the teachers and staff employed, students practicing and our sanctuary available to the community.

If you can't donate, we completely understand, but hope you can help by coming back to class or sharing this email and link with family and friends. If you have any stories of how Yoga by Degrees helped you, we would love to hear them.

A note from one of our teachers:
“It is with tears In my eyes that I’m writing to say thank you. I am so grateful for everyone in our YBD community for their generosity during this hard time. My unemployment hasn’t gone through yet, so because of the donation deposit from YBD today, I am able to get groceries for my family. I truly cannot say thank you enough.”

Thank you for your generosity and support. All our love to everyone during this difficult time.

Namaste,
The Yoga by Degrees Community
