The Efe Obada Foundation recently launched to change the odds for every young person with lived care experience.

Born in Nigeria, Efe moved with his family to the Netherlands, and at age 10 he and his sister were trafficked to the UK. What followed was a childhood shaped by the care system, 10 different foster homes before he aged out onto the streets. This story isn't all he wants to be known for, but he wants it to serve as an inspiration to anyone who can relate, or who has struggled with something similar. Having recently announced his retirement from the NFL, his focus is on using his platform to leave a lasting legacy beyond the field.

That's why the Foundation is on a mission to empower young people aged 11–25 with lived care experience to own their futures and their success, giving them access to the opportunities he never had growing up.

The Foundation is raising funds to support the set-up of programmes across London where beneficiaries will have a safe space to have fun, build confidence, and develop relationships, while also accessing tailored support. Beneficiaries will be connected to a suite of support services covering mental health, employability and career readiness, educational support, and physical health and wellbeing. Grants will also be available to fund essentials such as laptops and educational resources, as well as developmental opportunities including driving lessons.
