Daniel's Ongoing Medical Fund

September 28, 2014  While we are waiting for the delivery of Daniel's service dog I thought I'd post a couple photos.  Daniel is very excited to be able to have a special helper.

I hope that he will be able to help comfort Daniel when his next major surgery comes in January 2015.

AN AMAZING OPPORTUNITY HAS FALLEN INTO OUT LAPS UNEXPECTED.

We have always thought about getting Daniel a service/therapy/companion dog that has special training for Daniel.  The waiting list is generally years long and the cost can be anyway from $20,000 and up.  So we hesitated knowing getting that would be unthinkable and there were so many other things Daniel needed.

Just a few days ago, through FB we found out there was a dog that was trained for a special needs child and it fell through.  The gentleman who trained Kalani (the dog) is will to partner up Daniel and Kalani and teach us for an incredible price. Only $3000.  I say "only" because its a lot less that the standard $20,000.  Unfortunately we have to decide quickly and come up with the money.  Again one income family with a special needs child means there isn't money that is "extra" its a very tight budget.  So this is where we swallow our pride again because I will do anything for Daniel.

THIS IS KALANI last weekend at his 1 yr. birthday party.

Kalani is trained as a therapy dog.  He is large and will be able to assist Daniel in exercises and also brace him if he should fall.  He is also trained in many things, he will be able to help Daniel with his mobility by pulling his wheelchair and stopping it at curbs.  If you know anything about people with special needs - not many people will approach you or talk with you.  It is shown that with a service dog, people are more willing to come up and ask you questions.  The dog breaks the ice - giving Daniel the opportunity to open people up to Daniel.  Plus the most important Kalani will be Daniel's best friend.  Special needs kids tend to not have a lot of friendships and as he grows older, the friendships he has unfortuantely will dwindle.

So with all that being said, we need $3000 to pay for his training and to get Kalani from Oregon to Michigan.  If you care to help, we would be forever thankful.  If we do not raise the full amount all funds will be returned to you.

I REALIZED I DIDN'T PUT ALL INFO IN. TO ANSWER QUESTIONS.

WE HAVE TO PUT $1500.00 FOR A NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT. THE REMAINDER IN 30 DAYS.
