Drexel Tuition Bill

Donation protected
I'm poor and school is expensive.

In the past 10 years, tuition costs have skyrocketed. Working one's way through college has now become a thing of the past. Young adults are now forced into crippling debt that simply cannot be repaid by their expected wages.

I have spent the past two years reacclimating myself to college after a year spent working. My financial aid assistance covered my tuition and most expenses at a small community college. Now that I've moved on to a large private university, my ~$30,000 in financial aid assistance will not be enough for this year's tuition (only tuition. No books. No transportation). I have multiple grants, scholarships, and I have maxed out my subsidized and unsubsidized government loans.

Drexel University is a long-standing, well respected institution in Philadelphia. Many facilities are shared with neighboring Ivy League University, UPenn. Drexel also has a very respected College of Engineering and is the only university in Philadelphia that offers a BS program in Chemical Engineering (my major of choice).

Drexel also has a nationally recognized co-op program that allows me to gain 18 months of paid, relevant job experience during my BS program. In today's job market, having experience is key to finding a decent job after college. Conveniently, the salaries from these paid internships will help me cover tuition costs in the future.

Your investment will not be wasted on me. In high school, I was an advanced placement student as well as a member of multiple honor societies. I graduated from high school with honors six months early and started school at Sam Houston State University in January of 2010. After a tumultuous year at SHSU I felt that I needed some time out of school to decide what I wanted to do with my life. I have since moved to the greater Philadelphia area. I attended Bucks County Community College for two years as a Chemistry major. I had a 3.65 GPA and was on the President's Honor List. I was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the Secretary of the Computer Science Club, and I had a work study job where I helped maintain the Chemistry Labs.

Thank you for your time. These are tough times and I understand if you are unable to make a donation.
