Hospice Care for Senior Pets

Love has no age limits.
Young at Heart's Sanctuary Program allows senior pets with medical issues that are too complex for traditional adoption to enjoy the love of a family while Young at Heart pays for all the medical expenses for the Sanctuary Pet. These dogs and cats will receive all the medical care, love, and attention they need for the rest of their lives, cared for by their Sanctuary Homes, and financially supported by Young At Heart.
On September 11, 2014, the volunteers had to say goodbye to their sweet Ranger Girl:
"Her condition rapidly deteriorated over night, and she had to be placed on oxygen. An ultrasound first thing the next morning revealed cancer and a ruptured gallbladder, which is what was caused her to crash so suddenly. Surgery was not a viable option and we couldn't let our sweet girl suffer. With her sanctuary mama, Claudia, by her side, she knew how loved she was, how many people were thinking of her, and she peacefully left this world while being kissed and petted by her mama. Though our hearts are broken and we will miss her dearly, we choose to focus on the many months she spent in her loving sanctuary home, joyfully running through the yard, teasing her beloved Smokey dogs, being showered with love, and smiling at the world that was hers to enjoy. She left this world wrapped in love and family instead of perishing in a shelter all alone. It's what we want for every single senior pet. Thank you all for keeping Ranger Girl and Claudia in your thoughts, and for all that you do for our senior pets. Sweet dreams, beautiful Ranger Girl. Know you are loved always, and enjoy the heavenly fields and eternal cookie trees."
