<div>Honderd jaar geleden begon Abraham Manuskowski in het centrum van Den Haag zijn postzegelhandel. Het winkelpand in de Wagenstraat 105, naast de vroegere Grote Synagoge, ligt in het hart van wat ooit de Joodse Buurt van Den Haag was.

<div>De winkel is thans toe aan een nieuwe bestemming: een museale locatie waar

<div>. de duizenden Joodse slachtoffers van de holocaust uit Den Haag en omstreken waardig worden herdacht

<div>. het Joodse leven door de eeuwen heen in Den Haag te midden van andere culturen wordt getoond

<div>. we laten zien dat het Joodse leven in Den Haag nog altijd springlevend is.

<div>Daarnaast willen we in dit centrum educatie en ontmoeting tussen verschillende culturen bevorderen door met regelmaat een vast patroon bijeenkomsten en activiteiten in een petit café-sfeer te organiseren.

<div>Over het project is de afgelopen maanden overleg gevoerd met relevante organisaties, waaronder de gemeente Den Haag. Zij verwelkomen de komst van de beoogde locatie en zijn welwillend als het gaat om hun medewerking aan de ontwikkeling van een concreet (exploitatie)plan. De gemeente

<div>Den Haag heeft de initiatiefnemers tot 1 januari a.s. de tijd gegeven om een dergelijk plan op te stellen.

<div>Om de winkel op zijn nieuwe bestemming voor te bereiden is een crowdfunding gestart, waarbij we hopen voor deze aanloopfase ca. € 20.000,- bijeen te krijgen.
