<div>Door een tekort aan personeel in de ziekenhuizen, moesten de afgelopen jaren ruim duizend vrouwen uit Amsterdam-Amstelland tegen hun wens in buiten de regio bevallen.

<div>Veel vrouwen konden geen gebruik maken van faciliteiten zoals lachgas of een bevalbad, omdat het niet beschikbaar was op de plekken waar zij bevielen. Deze faciliteiten verkleinen de kans op onnodig medisch ingrijpen en zouden overal en voor iedere vrouw beschikbaar moeten zijn wanneer zij daarvoor kiest.

<div>De verloskundigen in Amsterdam-Amstelland slaan de handen ineen en zetten, nog deze zomer, een bevalcentrum op. Hier worden twee bevalkamers gerealiseerd, centraal gelegen tussen de omliggende ziekenhuizen. Vrouwen kunnen hier bevallen, met, wanneer zij dat wensen, toegang tot:

<div>De drijvende kracht achter dit centrum wordt gevormd door de 140 verloskundigen van Eerstelijns Verloskundigen Amsterdam Amstelland (EVAA). Verloskundigen dragen sinds jaar en dag zorg voor de begeleiding van de gezonde zwangere, barende vrouw en jonge moeder. Een goede start voor moeder en kind begint bij de bevalling.

<div>EVAA richtte in 2007 al een bevalcentrum op (Bevalcentrum West). Sindsdien hebben vele ouders met hun baby's dit bevalcentrum gezond en tevreden kunnen verlaten. 
</div>
<div>Vastgesteld is dat de kans op een verwijzing naar de medische afdeling van een ziekenhuis afnam met 30% en dat de kans op een verwijzing vanwege medicamenteuze pijnstilling zelfs met 50% daalde.
</div>
<div>Een kamer met huiselijke sfeer en voorzieningen als lachgas en een bevalbad kunnen dus echt het verschil maken.

<div>Ook in het nieuwe bevalcentrum bevallen vrouwen onder begeleiding van hun eigen verloskundige. Gespecialiseerde kraamverzorgenden vervullen de rol van gastvrouw en assisteren de verloskundigen. Indien er extra medische hulp nodig is worden vrouwen, net zoals voorkomt bij een thuisbevalling, verwezen naar een ziekenhuis.

<div>Het nieuwe bevalcentrum wordt grotendeels door de verloskundigenpraktijken zelf gefinancierd. Om het bevalcentrum snel van start te kunnen laten gaan en alle vrouwen in de regio welkom te kunnen heten, vragen wij daarnaast om jullie financiële steun.

<div>Wij vinden het heel belangrijk dat het centrum er komt voor àlle cliënten, ook als een zorgverzekering het niet, of slechts deels, zou vergoeden. Alle donaties komen ten bate van het leveren van zorg aan bevallende vrouwen. Van de kosten van een bevalbad(hoes) tot aan die van niet vergoede zorg. Dit alles zodat het elke cliënt niet méér kost dan een poliklinische bevalling in het ziekenhuis en iedereen gebruik kan maken van de waardevolle faciliteiten van dit centrum.

<div>Draag jij ook je steentje bij? Door zelf te mogen kiezen voor een bevalling op de plek en de manier waarop zij dat wenst, kan de keuzevrijheid voor iedere zwangere vrouw in Amsterdam-Amstelland blijven bestaan!

<div>In the past years, more than 1,000 women from the Amsterdam-Amstelland area gave birth outside the region due to a shortage of staff in the hospitals. Many women were also unable to use facilities such as nitrous oxide (gas &amp; air) and birthpools because it was not available at the place where they gave birth. These facilities reduce the risk of unnecessary medical interventions and should be available everywhere. Every woman deserves freedom of birthplace an birthwishes!

<div>The midwives in Amsterdam-Amstelland have joined forces and are setting up a birth center this summer! A center with two delivery rooms is being realized, centrally located between all surrounding hospitals, where you can give birth the way you want, with, if you wish:

<div>• Aromatherapy

<div>• Relaxing, deluxe rooms

<div>The initiators behind this center is formed by the 140 midwives of Organization EVAA (Eerstelijns Verloskundigen Amsterdam Amstelland). Midwives have been providing care to healthy pregnant women, women in labor and young mothers for decades.

<div>A good start for mother and child starts with a positive birth experience. EVAA set up a birth center in 2007 (Bevalcentrum West). It turned out that the chance of a referral to the medical department of a hospital decreased by 30% and for pain relief even by 50%! While mothers and babies went home healthy and with a positive birth experience.
</div>
<div>The combination of a homely atmosphere with gas and air facilities and a birthpool can therefore make all the difference.
</div>

<div>In the new birth center you will give birth guided by your own midwife. Which is the if you would have a home birth or non-medical hospital birth. Specialized maternity nurses fulfill the role of hostess and assist the midwives.
</div>
<div>If extra medical help is needed, you will be referred to a hospital, just like you would when you would have had a homebirth.
</div>

<div>Although this new birth center is already largely financed by the midwife practices themselves; we ask you for financial support, so that it can be realized quickly for all women in the region.
</div>

<div>We think it is very important that the birth Center is available to all pregnant women, even if insurance does not (or only partially) reimburse it.
</div>

<div><strong>All donations will be used to cover the costs for providing care to women in labour: from birthpool (covers) to non-reimbursed care.</strong>

<div>Everything so that it does not cost the client more than having a non-medical birth in a hospital which means everyone can use the valuable facilities of the center.
