<div>Ferre is 12 jaar en woont in Breukelen. Een jongen met een gouden hart, een aanstekelijke lach en een ongelofelijke wilskracht. Ferre heeft een ernstige meervoudige beperking. Hij is geboren met het syndroom van Apert en kreeg op 1,5-jarige leeftijd een zware hersenvliesontsteking waardoor hij wekenlang in coma lag. Tegen alle verwachtingen in vocht hij zich terug — stap voor stap, glimlach na glimlach.

<div>Vandaag verbaast hij iedereen met zijn doorzettingsvermogen. Hij leert rijden in een elektrische rolstoel en communiceert met een spraakcomputer. Elk klein stukje zelfstandigheid is voor Ferre een grote overwinning.

<div>Zijn ouders, Saskia en Ferdinand, zetten alles op alles om hem het leven te geven dat hij verdient. Ze sjouwen, regelen, en zorgen met eindeloze liefde. Maar nu staan ze voor een grote uitdaging: hun huidige rolstoelbus is te klein, te laag en vertoont mankementen. De nieuwe elektrische rolstoel en handbewogen rolstoel van Ferre past er simpelweg niet meer in.

<div>De gemeente helpt gelukkig mee met de noodzakelijke aanpassingen zoals een lift en rolstoelvastzetsysteem, maar de bus zelf moeten ze helemaal zelf bekostigen. En dat is een enorm bedrag — tussen de €50.000 en €60.000.

<div>Die bus is onmisbaar. Ferre moet regelmatig naar het ziekenhuis in Rotterdam, naar zijn revalidatie in de Hoogstraat, en naar school in Doorn (gelukkig ook met leerlingenvervoer). Maar ook om gewoon kind te kunnen zijn — om naar de dierentuin te gaan, op vakantie te gaan, of gezellig familie en vrienden te bezoeken.

<div>Met een nieuwe bus kan Ferre weer veilig en comfortabel op pad. Zijn ouders zetten hun spaargeld in, maar ze kunnen dit niet alleen.
