Dear Friends near and far,
Our dear Wendy fell off a stool in her garage about a week ago and very seriously fractured her left arm. She had two surgeries at Harborview this week where the surgeon installed 4 plates in her wrist and elbow. Even in intense pain, exhausted, and heavily medicated, Wendy's strong will to heal is reflected in her commiment to her physical therapy, which started shortly after her second surgery.

Even in intense pain, exhausted, and heavily medicated, Wendy's strong will to heal is reflected in her commiment to her physical therapy, which started shortly after her second surgery.
Her doctor emphasized that this is a VERY PAINFUL surgery, and to expect that she will be in pain for a minimum of a couple of weeks or so. He expects her energy to be extremely low for 4-6 weeks as her body recovers and begins the healing process. She will most likely be back to teaching in about 6 weeks. Her long term healing success REALLY requires that she is kind to her body so it can do its job and heal.
Even with insurance and a good head on her shoulders, it is difficult to plan for such a situation as this. The loss of income and medical expenses not covered by her insurance will be off-set with any contribution to support Wendy during this challenging recovery. Anything you can give will go a long way to making sure her healing has the best chance to be successful.
