As many of you know, Lynn has spent the last 6 years living her life in daily pain.  The abdominal pain makes simple tasks such as eating and drinking extremely painful.  Imagine all day, every day trying to decide to eat or not to eat especially when food looks and smells so good.  Lynn chews her food; however, she doesn’t swallow the food because it is too painful.

Doug “Coach Doug” and her son Branden have been by her side helping daily trying to keep her comfortable.

On October 21st 2008, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  A double mastectomy was performed on November 18th 2008.  She started chemotherapy (Taxol) treatment in January 2009 for 5 months and Herceptin for 14 months.

In July of 2009, the pain started and has never ended.  Between July 2009 and June 2012, they made many, many trips to Beaumont Hospital and University of Michigan Hospital seeing one specialist after another.  She has endured numerous tests, 3 exploratory laboscopic procedures, tried physical therapy, acupuncture, and pain management programs.  She was diagnosed with nerve damage from the chemotherapy causing severe abdominal pain.

In June 2012, she had surgery at Beaumont Hospital to see if they could ease her pain.  In July 2013, a Cleveland Clinic doctor decided to perform another surgical procedure to ease the pain.  In February 2014, another trip and surgery at Cleveland Hospital resulted in internal bleeding, 2 days in ICU, and another 6 days at the hospital.

She has made 18 trips this year to Cleveland Clinic for doctor’s appointments, tests, hospitalized twice for observation, trips to the ER for dehydration and severe pain, and she was recently admitted for a week suffering from malnutrition.

After all of these trips to the doctors, the medical bills are piling up and they are struggling financially to pay their bills.  Doug has had to take many days off from his job to care for Lynn and to take her to these appointments and has spent numerous days at the hospital with her.  The additional cost of gas and hotel stays each trip have also added up.

We are reaching out to family and friends of Lynn, Doug and Branden, the many players who played hockey with “Coach Doug” and co-workers from his previous employment at Intertape Polymer. He thoroughly enjoyed putting together the family Christmas parties year after year and created many happy memories for his fellow co-workers. He is now working at ZF Marysville Axle Plant.

Have a blessed day and we thank you for your support in their time of need.
