Edward Vidaurrazaga Scholarship

This scholarship will be given out to a graduating senior from Ánimo South Los Angeles Charter High School (starting with the Class of 2020). The purpose of this scholarship is to embody the qualities and characteristics of Mr. Edward Vidaurrazaga—Ánimo's former counselor who served this school for over 10 years. Mr. V served countless of students, helping them navigate college applications, SAT/ACT tests, life after high school, etc. His service dates back to 2008—when the founding class of Ánimo South LA CHS graduated. His selfless work and act of kindness left a legacy in many students's personal & academic lives. ​This scholarship will be given out during graduation and the awardee will be given a check for them to utilize for expenses that come after graduating high school (i.e. college, housing, relocating, etc.). The awardee will be selected by our scholarship committee. Students will not be evaluated based on GPA, their plans after high school, but based on their essays. Applications will undergo a blind-review (meaning students' names will not be released to the scholarship committee until the selected candidate is chosen to avoid a biased selection). Scholarship is for $500.

Help us honor his 10+ years of service & show him that HS counselors like him—working in underserving schools—deserve the most gratitude for their selfless acts of kindness and for working above his job expectations.
