Background to the programme

Due to the unstable political environment and deteriorating economic conditions, in addition to the restrictions imposed for more than two years by the COVID-19 pandemic, social and artists' spaces have shrunk and have been compromised focusing on online learning and activities. Organising arts interactive camps focusing on music facilitates the access of children and youth to cultural and artistic activities enabling them to interact with other peers, express themselves and engage in cultural and social interaction. Sharing the artistic outputs of the camps through social media contributes to public awareness and social and cultural engagement.

Talking about this, a campaign team member, a fromer student and a teacher at the ESNCM says : “The summer programme is so important for the students in order to stay attached to their instrument, and ensures the consistency of practicing on it, which gradually develops them !”

Arts empower youth to cope with increasingly complex life conditions.  Culture and arts education enhance communal and individual capacities to actively engage as agents of change economically, socially and politically.

Celina Tannous, a student at the ESNCM expressed that music is the language that connects her with others around the world, and staying at the ESNCM in all seasons is something important for her to keep her close the the violin - her instrument.

What will the summer arts programme do?

The arts summer programme aims to combine fun and recreation through music, cinema, painting, Dabkeh (traditional dance) and other cultural and artistic activities exploring young talents, facilitating access to artistic activities, enhancing cultural and artistic awareness to provide children with proper support to further strengthen their resilience and development and eventually empower them to be actors of change in their communities.
