I recently returned from a trip to the Philippines. I spent most of my time in beautiful Moalboal, Cebu (known for it's renowned snorkel and SCUBA dive sites).

I saw what little the people had in this developing country when compared to the western world—though they always seemed to find a way to be happy and friendly.

My thoughts brought me back to when I was young and what made me happy as a child. While in the Philippines, my fond childhood memories inspired me to purchase soccer balls, children's story books and toys for kids who had so much less than I had when I grew up. I was able leave these items with locals so they can treasure similar good memories in the years to come.

I observed that Filipinos are a resilient, resourceful, creative people who don't have the opportunities available like many of us. To start, I will be sending new and lightly used educational books to one of the local high schools (Moalboal National High School) & one of the Elementary Schools (Moalboal Central Elementary School).

Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, but many students in the Philippines face a heartbreaking challenge: they often lack access to essential books and learning materials. Without these resources, students may struggle to develop critical skills in reading, math, and science—skills that can open doors to better opportunities and brighter futures.

Your donation can change a student's life. By contributing, you are not just buying books—you are empowering young minds, fuelling dreams, and investing in the next generation of leaders, teachers, and innovators. Every book placed in a student’s hands is a step toward a future where they can rise above their circumstances and reach their full potential.

I will continue with this effort on my own even if there is no interest in it, but if anyone would like to contribute to support this cause, it would be greatly appreciated by many.

All funds raised will go towards books, learning materials and shipping costs.
