The Martial Arts History Museum
Museums make an impact on people's lives. They inspire us, take us to new levels, educate us, and they have the ability to open new doors. The Martial Arts History Museum is unlike any other museum in the world. Why? Because martial arts is a common denominator. Who doesn't know someone in their neighborhood who does martial arts. Martial arts is exciting, it's fun and who wouldn't want to visit a museum dedicated to the arts?
But the Martial Arts History Museum is more than just martial arts. It is using the martial arts as its gateway to learning about Asian art, Asian history, Asian music, Asian culture, and Asian tradition. It connects America to Asia through it all, it creates a better understanding of each other. We feel that as young people visit the museum, they will develop an appreciation of people from Asia and see all the wonderful contributions they have made to this country.
If the martial arts has made an impact on your life. If you had been bullied when you were young and the martial arts saved you. If you have had a successful business because of the martial arts. If you have gained confidence because of the martial arts. If the martial arts made you a better person, then giving back the arts by keeping its history alive is something we should all be part of. As Benny Urquidez said a few months ago, if we don't have this museum, everything we have done will be forgotten forever!
Where will the funds go?
100% goes to the museum. We need to expand. Our facility is not large enough to hold 90 kids at a time, which is what is required for a field trip. We need to raise $5 million to purchase a 15,000-square-foot facility in order to hold school visitations. We can't make a difference if they can't experience the museum!
But together, we can make a difference! We can make a change and take a big step in stopping this violence. With a new location, we can have special events, Asian film festivals, self-defense workshops, and lectures on both combating Asian Hate and the positive impact of Asian Americans. This is not a two to five-year project, this is a one-year or less plan, we have a museum already, we just need to expand to a new place.
We are a non-profit so your contributions are tax-deductible. We have a wonderful opportunity to make a real change. We can put a stop to this if we all band together.
