Education is Freedom Scholarship Fund

Now more than ever, your support is needed!! Concern over the alarmingly low rate of post-secondary attendance, whether it be college or a career school, among students in underserved communities, has mounted. Student loan debt is out of control. If the cost of college or career school continues to rise and students are unable to attend, the cycle of poverty continues. Even during the pandemic, these high potential and motivated students still have hopes and dreams.

Will you support a student’s future by donating $25 to the Education is Freedom Scholarship Fund? We set a goal to raise $50,000 for student scholarships. You can help make their dreams come true. No matter the amount, your donation will directly impact a student’s life, increasing their personal financial capacity to afford a higher education without incurring an increase in student borrowing.

· 56% of seniors graduating from public and nonprofit colleges in 2019 had student loan debt.
· Average debt at graduation from public and nonprofit colleges was $28,800 in 2019, a $400 decrease from 2018.
· 66% of graduates from public colleges had loans as of May 2018 (average debt of $25,550)

A contribution to the Education is Freedom Scholarship Fund allows every EIF Scholar that completes the EIF Evening With the Stars application to receive a scholarship that will help pay for college associated costs that typically are not covered by traditional scholarships.

The cycle of poverty is about more than a simple lack of resources. It’s a complex issue that requires digging a little deeper for sustainable solutions. That is why Education is Freedom works with students and families to empower them to dream and create their path through education and break out of the potential cycle of poverty. The Education is Freedom Scholarship Fund aims to supply students with necessary financial support that could make the difference of being able to afford books, housing, and basic necessities like food. Collectively, we can create long-lasting, sustainable, and generational change!

The EIF Scholar Program and Evening With the Stars Annual Event
The EIF Scholars program provides high performing, primarily first-generation, under-represented 12th-graders with the opportunity to expand their options for furthering their education and making positive college and career choices. Throughout the year-long program, Scholars participate in activities that enrich leadership skills, promote community service and involvement, and enhance academic development. Every April, EIF hosts our annual Evening With the Stars Event, bringing supporters like yourself, together with EIF Scholars and their families for an evening of celebration. In the past 5 years, EIF has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for EIF Scholars.

The Bottom Line

When you look at the stats, the fate of young people, in underserved communities, can look bleak. Lack of access to education is a major predictor of passing poverty from one generation to the next.  Receiving an education is one of the top ways to achieve financial stability. The goal of Education is Freedom (EIF) is to reverse this trend by focusing personnel and resources on neglected urban schools that require college, career, and life planning and guidance to assist students in successfully reaching their higher education goals.  Please consider creating change in a student’s life by making a donation to the Education is Freedom Scholarship Fund.
